.:Jermiside & DJ Low Key – Die Jerm Die:.

It’s been a minute since Jermiside (of Red Giants/Lessondary fame) first hit me up to help him out with his Die Jerm Die mixtape…I’d known dude for a while via Tanya Morgan (he was on a song on Moonlighting & two on Brooklynati), featured him on my Mixing In Action #2 tape back in ’06 and we’d kicked it for a minute on the Hiero tour so it was a no-brainer to get involved…Jerm’s concept for the tape was a lot darker than most stuff I work on (the title says it all…LOL), but it was appropriate for the times and the music was really dope so I put it all together in a way that hopefully tells a story and wraps up on a positive note, check out the tape for yourself and see what you think…

DJ Low Key on KTCL’s Mixtape Thursdays…Shouts to Ralphie & Judge for bringing more dope hip hop to commercial radio in Denver…

A few weeks back I recorded this short mix that aired on Judgemental (of Basementalism fame) and Ralphie’s new Mixtape Thursdays show on KTCL 93.3 FM.  The show airs every Thursday night from 11 PM to 1 AM and features all sorts of dope hip hop, including mixes from great national and local DJs including Z-Trip, Vajra, Lazy Eyez, B-Money and more.  It’s been a hit so far (check some of the press here) and for those of y’all that don’t know, KTCL is the same Denver-based, primarily rock station that helped launch Flobots and 3OH!3 during their recent rise to fame and has more recently been opening up the airwaves to more & more hip hop lately.  Good things Denver, good things, thanks Ralphie & Judge.  Anyways, check out the unedited and clean versions of my set below and stay tuned for more DJ Low Key guest spots on KTCL’s Mixtape Thursdays real soon.

A little more talk about Ketchup…Shouts to the homie TiRon…

So it’s been two weeks since my latest mixtape, Ketchup, a collab with ridiculously talented but still never happy L.A.-based rapper TiRon dropped & the response has been overwhelmingly positive…It’s already been downloaded over 6,000 times from just the main zshare link & here, plus it’s been re-upped by countless other blogs across the web…I figured I’d put together some of the feedback from some of the bigger sites/blogs for whoever’s still sleeping & production credits for whoever’s interested (take note of the lineup, there’s some super talented new producers & MCs featured on the tape…

“One of the best up and coming artists on the West Coast planet. Yea I said it. TiRon is stupid dope and you’re a fool if you’ve been sleeping. This tape is a perfect way to catch up Ketchup (see what he did right there?) though.” – 2DopeBoyz

“TiRon isn’t your average rapper, he’s something more…For all you tomato head ass muthaf*ckas that ain’t up on one of the West Coast’s brightest new stars, ketchup!” – XXL

“For my personal listening, I’d have to say [TiRon’s] on my ‘man more people need to hear these cats’ lists. Thankfully, we now have Ketchup.” – The Smoking Section

“Without bias, I can say this dude is definitely somebody you should get to know if you’re not familiar with his music already” – Okayplayer

TiRon & DJ Low Key – Ketchup drops on 2/24…

&

DROPPING TUESDAY, 2/24 -> In the words of Shake from 2dopeboyz.com “I’m not a huge fan of posting snippets, but I’ve had the full version of this for too long not to let something from it go. The track is just like 95% of anything else TiRon has released… dope as hell. I honestly don’t understand why there isn’t a larger buzz surrounding the kid. Dah well… it will come soon enough. Ketchup drops next Tuesday (February 24th) right here at the dopehouse; mixed by DJ Low Key. Video is on the way as well.”

.:TiRon featuring Ayomari “3 Drink Minimum (snippet)”:.

You might already know LA’s TiRon from his excellent rapper tape, Handshakes & Pounds, from a year or so back, his work with Pac Div (“Paper”, “She” & more), his track with Blu (“All The Kings Men”) or his mention as part of the “Class of 2009” on BET.com.  If not, get your google on, check TiRon’s myspace page & mark the 24th on your calendar so you can catch up.

.:DJ Low Key – Basementalism Pledge Mix – 10/04/08:.

Here’s a mix I recorded for renowned college radio show Basementalism’s pledge drive a few weeks back.  It’s a 2-part, 32 track mix of big indie, college radio & classic hip hop records straight from my crates to you (yes, from my crates, no offense to my serato, but this mix is 100% wax). P.S. Please excuse the short instrumental breaks (they’re for the show’s talkin parts) and if you like what you hear, please do you part and help support Radio 1190 up in Boulder, they’re a fresh alternative to the generic top 40 stations that we’re all tired of.  Anyways, enjoy…

Yo Che & Amen, they bootleggin’ our shit (c) SV…Save your rubles people…

Over the last few months I’ve seen a few shady looking sites selling MP3s of my free mixtape downloads.  I guess I’ll take it as flattery since one is Russian and I’m already without free time.  With that said, at least put up the covers & link to my site if you’re gonna bootleg my tapes fuckers.  Anyways, download Che Grand & DJ Low Key – Limited Edition:The Fixtape and DJ Low Key & DJ Amen – Bar Luxe Late Night Soundtrack w/ Sy Smith (neither me nor Amen spin at Bar Luxe anymore, it’s a cool spot though) for FREE in the mixtapes section if you haven’t already and save yourself some rubles.

dj soul & tanya morgan present “tanya morgan is a rap group” hosted by *** *******
this will be ready and out within the next 2 weeks. if youve been keeping up with us for the past year then you wont care much about this one but for those who havent youll be able to play catch up with us on this one. its a collection of all of those spare cuts weve been performing but arent on any albums or anything and theres also a few new cuts, featuring torae, kay of the foundation, kam moye (aka supastition), and naledge of kidz in the hall.

tanya morgan “the bridge ep”
this one is coming out in may. look for the title track featuring Elucid in April. Production by myself & brick beats of course, mysterious, aeon, and 88 keys (not cuddle bums). you may have read about it on the tanya morgan myspace blog but please know this is NOT some project only available at our merch table. if all goes well and we dont have to kick no ass (haha…haha?) itll be available wherever you usually buy music you like from.

sometime around those dropping, loosie music will be peer pressuring me (haha…haha?) into releasing a von pea instrumental mixtape mixed by dj low key, so for those that like my beats, youll have that to play with. the american angster stuff, the grander vonye stuff, tanya morgan stuff, i got beats man!

THEN

the main event…honestly the only thing i really truly care about these days. the true & actual follow up to tanya morgans “moonlighting” album. that album is called “brooklynati”. i want to say brooklynati will be ready and available by august of this year. we’re not just working on some songs for this, it took so much to get to this point, and more is on the line than you think, so we are approaching this album like its our final artistic statement. with that said, we promise to not disappoint.

so yea, we’re at it. if youve hit me up about working and it didnt happen, please dont take offense. like i said, a lot is on the line and im not talking about no record deals, im talking about life! we’re at a tipping point if there ever was one.
