Jenesis Magazine is, in my humble opinion, one of the only hip hop publications that has any semblance of quality control or actual sense of what’s good in 2012.  They’ve been consistently covering what’s new and dope years before the XXLs of the world, so if you’re not already familiar, head on over to JenesisMagazine.com to learn more about what your friends with be excited about in 2013…LOL.

#COHipHop Classic: Chill “Yenshee” from No Coast Line

The homie DJ Chonz recently posted up this Colorado hip hop classic from way back in 1994.  It appeared on producer/Radio Bums co-founder Hakeem’s No Coast Line album, along with some other #COHipHop gems.  Chonz called Chill the “Hands down #1 emcee out of CO” and after witnessing him freestyle in person and hearing joints like this and “Dying To Live”, I’m inclined to agree.  Anyways, the track aged well; take a listen and check out one of the best MCs to ever come out of CO.

Last month, I had the pleasure of working with the Red Bull Music Academy to bring the Foreign Exchange to Denver for their debut show out here in CO, as well as opening for the show.  The show was nothing short of incredible, everything from the vibe in the crowd to the sound to the band’s energy was just right and, through the magic of Red Bull Music Academy Radio, I have audio proof.  Check out the links below to stream the almost two hour long show that the band called one of their best ever.  Extra special thanks to the Red Bull Music Academy for making the show happen, the longtime homie Nicolay, the new homie Phonte, the incomparable Sy Smith (aka the “DJ Low Key” voice on my mixtape IDs), Zo, Aimee, the rest of the band, Summit Music Hall, Family Affair, DJ Squirt, Side 3, Brittney the Square, DJ Dozen and most importantly, everybody that came out, for helping make Monday, 3/14/2011 one of the best shows I’ve ever been to (as well as been a part of).  With that said, check out the links from RBMARadio.com below to stream the show it’s entirely:

From DenverSolution.com: In case you missed it back in October ‘08, we had 2009 XXL Freshman member and the newest member of Lupe Fiasco’s All City Chess Club crew, Mickey Factz, come through the Solution for a surprise visit.  We were having a release party for Madlib’s Beat Konducta Vol 5 & 6:A Tribute To Dilla that night and winding down everything when Mickey showed up around last call and proceeded to spit some off the top freestyles while an intoxicated DJ Low Key rocked Madlib beats.  Check out Mickey’s debut album later this year and download his Solution freestyles below:
