Spitkicker & Frank151 shout out the Solution w/DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme

More good looks for Denver’s favorite hip hop night.  Heavyweights Frank151 & Spitkicker recently shouted out the triumphant return of the Solution to Fridays on their sites in case you missed it.  If you’re in Colorado and not coming out to the Solution on Fridays, here’s two more reasons to get your ass over to the “best hip hop night in Denver” (c) Westword on the Funky Buddha’s rooftop (776 Lincoln) every week.

Spitkicker says -> “X-Amount of Respect to Denver’s number one DJ/Hustler/Entrepreneur/Go-To-Guy, DJ Low Key. If you are ever in Denver on a Friday night be sure to check out The Solution held on the rooftop of the Funky Buddha. Went there after the Paid Dues show and the place was packed. Low Key and Sounds Supreme play some dope shit to both vibe and/or dance too. While I was there they had the spot on tilt. Everyone was jamming. Kidz in the Hall even came through and put on an impromptu performance.I highly recommend people check it out at least once in their lifetime.”

Frank151 says -> “DJ Low Key also hosted the Paid Dues Afterparty, as Akomplice brought the Kidz In The Hall to join fellow team members DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme to kick off their acclaimed night, The Solution, moving back to Fridays at the Funky Buddha with a Paid Dues Afterparty. Naledge & Double-O were supposed to only host, but got into the vibe real quick and performed a little set to a packed house to close out the night.”

Also, check out an album of pics from the Solution relaunch/Paid Dues Afterparty w/Kidz in the Hall in my myspace pics (courtesy of Rachel Crick) plus there’s more pics of the Solution’s AWESOME first 18 months over there too.  With that said, big up everyone who’s been coming out and supporting the Solution w/DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme and stay tuned for more CLASSIC Friday nights.

I was voted “Best Hip Hop DJ” in the Westword Music Showcase…Thanks Denver…

More proof that 2008 is a MONSTER!!!  Thank you Denver for voting me the “Best Hip Hop DJ in Denver” in the Westword (Denver’s premier music/arts/entertainment magazine) last month.  Thanks to the Westword Music Showcase nominating committee for putting me on the ballot and thanks again for naming the Solution w/DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme “Best Hip Hop Night in Denver” back in April’s “Best Of Denver” issue.  Big up each and everybody who’s been checking for me and supporting my projects since my days up in Boulder, and trust, “there’s so much more to come, we’ve only just begun” (c) Skateboard P.  Thanks again y’all…

DJ Low Key caught in the act on StrictlyFitteds.com & the infamous B Club hats…

So I got caught in the act on StrictlyFitteds.com Sunday night. Head over to StrictlyFitteds.com, the undisputed authority on fitteds, to see the feature and catch up on the hat game. Big up to the homey Nai over at Strictly on the good look, Avenue/Speakeasy on the hat & Rachel on the pic. And yeah, I take the sticker off and rock my bill with a slight crease, a little to the right, in case you were wondering. Last but not least, since we’re talkin hats, I gotta shout out the homeys over at Frank151, Estate LA & my Cali fam Free Speech and Ro Blvd for lacing me with extra fresh fitteds (check out the ultra exclusive, extra dope B Club fitted below, only the crew listed at OurTeamIsFresh.com has ’em) as well.

And by the way, Atlanta Braves fitteds are my shit too on some super CLASSIC iddish (I’m originally from right outside of ATL, put me in front of some fried catfish, hush puppies & sweet tea and I’ll do damage), but that’s a whole different post.

Erykah Badu thanks the Radio Bums on the 12″ for “The Healer”

In case you didn’t already know, I’m a member of a super dope DJ crew called the Radio Bums (big up Chonz, Bedz, Petey, Styles & Fashion, Psycho, Vajra, Rectangle, Maseo, Amen, my partner at the Solution, Sounds Supreme, and that’s just part of the crew) that spans from Colorado to LA and beyond. I mention the crew because a talented up & coming (lol) singer by the name of Erykah Badu was thoughtful enough to recently thank us (alongside some of hip hop’s finest DJs & crews) on the back of her BEAUTIFUL (they rarely make records that are this nice these days with the sick ass art, colored vinyl, b-side, dope remixes and so on) double 12″ single for “The Healer” from her latest album, New Amerykah. Thanks Miss Badu, you sure do know the way to a DJ’s heart.

And oh yeah, make sure to cop that New Amerykah album if you haven’t already.

Please vote DJ Low Key for Best Hip Hop DJ in the Westword Music Showcase…

Hot on the heels of the Solution w/me & Sounds Supreme being named “Best Hip Hop Night” in Denver by the Westword, I’ve been nominated for the 2008 Westword Music Showcase for “Best Hip Hop DJ” alongside the homeys DJ Bedz (Radio Bums in this), (the world famous) DJ Vajra, Cysko Rockwel (big up Crunk Brothers) & more. All the dudes I just mentioned are AMAZING DJs who inspire me and countless other DJs around the state/country/world and are super deserving of the award. With that said, since you are reading this on my site/blog, you might be a fan of what I do and in that case, you & your friends/family/co-workers/entire myspace network/etc are more than welcomed to vote for your boy DJ Low Key over at Westword.com. Thanks…

“This shit is dope…I like it!” (c) Mr. West…Thanks Kanye…

Good to see Kanye is up on the homeys Blu & Exile and that he’s enjoying the “Blu Collar Worker” video we put together. Hopefully the rest of the world is as enthusiastic as the Louis Vuitton Don. Make sure you check out his dope blog over at kanyeuniversecity.com/blog and cop Blu & Exile’s CLASSIC Below the Heavens if you haven’t already.

The Solution w/DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme is the Best Hip Hop Night in Denver (c) The Westword…Thank you CO…

POW!!! (c) Sounds Supreme. Big up Westword (especially Jon, Dave & Quibian) for naming us the “best hip hop night in Denver” in their annual “Best Of” issue and even more importantly, thanks for all the love and support you’ve given us over the last 13 months Denver. If it wasn’t for the heads coming through every week, then the dope music we play wouldn’t even matter. And if you’re in CO and haven’t been by the Solution, make sure you come check us out every Thursday on the Funky Buddha’s RIDICULOUS rooftop. So stay tuned, we’ve got a crazy lineup of events coming up and we’re just getting started, the roof is about to be opened up all the way for the nice weather and of course, me and Sounds Supreme will stay playing the best in quality hip hop & more every week. 776 Lincoln St/Music at 9/21+/Never a cover.

Allow me to reintroduce myself (c) Hov…

If you’re just checkin out the site for the first time after reading about me in the recent Westword feature, coming to one of my club nights, seeing one of my mixtapes on rappersiknow.com (big up FWMJ, I still can’t believe you had Just Blaze on hold while you knocked out the BT2 cover for us), finding me on the Frank 151 & Stones Throw Records sites, or on one of the other great random blogs, sites, forums, etc that have been cool enough to mention me lately, let me take a minute of your valuable time to tell you a little bit about what me and my site are all about.

I’m a DJ/promoter (DJ by choice, promoter by default) in Denver who’s been playing records in Denver/Boulder/Summit County steady since around 2000 or so to pay my bills. I’m a big music/hip hop addict and over the years I’ve DJed at huge top 40 spots, shitty dive bars, fancy martini spots, 18+ college nights and so on and so on, but these days I’m all about working on projects that I think are dope and events I’d like to go to. That’s where the website comes in, here on the site I list the events that I’m spinning/promoting, put up charts of the music I’m into, link up free downloads of my mixtapes and all sorts of other stuff I like. Anyways, I’m gonna shut up and let the site and music speak for themselves. Thanks again for checking out the site (feel free to tell a friend or 20 or 50…lol), hopefully you find some quality content on here and stay tuned, things are just gettin started…

It’s not even 2008 yet, but…

You won’t catch me complaining about anyone puttin me on their top 10 mixtapes of 2007 list in December (big ups to my homey Von Pea, who’s on there too)… Props to popmatters.com for showing love to the Median tape
