SATURDAY, 8/22 at 8PM -> My June RBSS show with Dam-Funk, Fast4ward & Oren L was RIDICULOUS, and now me & Red Bull Sound Select are teaming for one last time in 2015 to close out Summer with another INSANE lineup. On Saturday, 8/22, we’re welcoming SaveMoney favorite and Chicago’s next big artist to blow, Towkio, Houston’s unofficial mayor Fat Tony, elite Denver rapper F.L., rising star CRL CRRLL & host extraordinaire DJ Lazy Eyez at The Moon Room at Summit Music Hall!!!
If you’re not familiar, Chicago’s Towkio dropped on of 2015’s most interesting projects in .WAV Theory, featuring an all-start line up of contributors including his SaveMoney cohorts Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa and Leather Cords with ridiculously good production by the like of Kaytranada and Donnie Trumptet (producer of Surf w/Chance & The Social Experiment’s Surf album).
Towkio’s .WAV Theory is a mix of straight up modern day party jams, insightful songs and unbridled creativity, making it a must listen if you want to stay on top of all the best that 2015 has to offer.
Houston’s Fat Tony has become a legend in his city over the last few years while simultaneously developing a crazy cult following all across the country. Tony’s music is a mix of the classic Houston sound with some Austin-type X-factors and rock star swagger that has to be seen live to be understood. Tony’s live show blew me away at SXSW and we’re super excited to properly introduce his music to Denver.
From his days as a prominent member of Denver’s renowned Foodchain collective to a very successful solo career, F.L. (aka F.Lawless), has firmly established himself as one of the best MCs in the city. After working with the likes of Donwill of Tanya Morgan, Truck North of MMJB, Zion I & Homeboy Sandman, Neon Brown has established himself as one of the best producers in Denver and beyond, spanning a wide variety of styles with his sound. Mister Freedom is the new group project between the two, drops the day of the show and from my early listens, stands to further establish F.L. as one of the best MCs in the history of Colorado and position Neon Brown as a go to producer for the rest of 2015 and beyond, check out their singles via soundcloud to hear for yourself.
Denver singer/songwriter/producer/etc CRL CRRLL’s musical stock has steadily been rising over the last few years, with his latest EP Ghost and his single “Cheers” making noise all around the city and getting love from DJs all across the county. CRL CRRLL (pronounced Carl Carrell)’s next project, the WAVE EP, is part 2 of his double Ghost/Wave EP and ounds INSANELY good from my advance listens. Like F.L. & Neon Brown’s Mister Freedom project, it also drops the same day as the show and sounds primed to take the Colorado favorite to a whole ‘nother level.
Things get started at 8pm sharp and with a crazy dope lineup in a small venue, the show should fill up early, so I’d highly recommend getting there early. If the super dope lineup wasn’t enough, you can RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com for $3 entry (that’s right, only $3!!! It’s first come, first serve though, so get to The Moon Room early) and also get access to some top quality music, videos and lots more. Otherwise, the show’s still quite a deal at the $15 door price, just make sure you show up early, because being ready to pay a $15 cover does you no good at a show that’s packed and at capacity before you get there. Last but not least, shouts to Detour aka Thomas Evan on the FANTASTIC artwork for the show! 18+/8pm/1902 Blake Street.
.:RSVP for $3 admission HERE:.
P.S. Stay tuned for more great monthly Red Bull Sound Select shows and new music in Denver, curated by myself, Souls In Action & The UMS, all year long (plus more shows all over the country)!!!
NOTE: RSVP confirmation does not guarantee entry. Entry is first come first served up to capacity, regardless of RSVP. RSVP is also only good for each individual guest. No +1s will be included.

THURSDAY, 6/25 -> My last Red Bull Sound Select show with headliner Tokimonsta in March was INSANE, filled with a ton of music fans going crazy and ranting more about the lineup that just about any show I’ve ever thrown (no exaggeration, most everyone there was BLOWN AWAY by the 1-2-3 punch of Fast4ward, CRL & Anderson, and they were just the openers). With that said, I’m super excited to be curating my next RBSS show on Thursday, 6/25, featuring Funkmosphere ruler supreme and Stones Throw favorite DâM-FunK, Colorado’s best kept secret Fast4ward, the one of one sounds of Oren L (and his band Killing Kings) and host DJ Lazy Eyez at Lost Lake!!!
If you’re not up on his music, DâM-FunK is one of the most unique acts in today’s musical landscape, bringing the feel good vibes of classic funk and boogie into the 21st century while collaborating with the likes of Snoop Dogg (on the full-length album, 7 Days Of Funk), Toro Y Moi, Steve Arrington, Reggie B, pretty much the entire Stones Throw roster and lots more.
DaM’s live show combines impressive synthwork, DJing, singing and more for a crazy vibe that always sends crowds home smiling. Dam’s just wrapping up a tour with prog-rock legend Todd Rundgren, just dropped a quick 4 song instrumental EP called STFU on StonesThrow.com to rave reviews and is sure to leave Denver in a funk-fueled daze like we’ve never seen before.
Full-fledged musical genius and in my opinion, easily one of the most slept-on artists in the entire country, Fast4ward is also on the bill, bringing his unique, one man band show to Lost Lake for the night. He combines ridiculous skills on everything from turntables to keys to woodwinds to beatboxing in an ever-shifting way that always leaves crowds stunned in amazement. If you’re seen him before, prepare yourself to see him do something different and wildly impressive that the last time and if you’ve never seen him, set your expectations very high and prepare to still be impressed.
Rounding out the bill, Oren L & Killing Kings is back on it and bringing their latest sounds to the show after spending most of the Winter working on music and their new live show. Oren was an integral part of Denver’s renowned collective The Foodchain before releasing his very strong BS|BS|BC solo debut last Summer to a great response. He’ll be rocking with his band Killing Kings, a special guests or two and giving Denver a taste of what him and the band have been working on lately; don’t miss it!!!
Things get started at 8pm sharp and with a crazy strong lineup, small venue and Dam headlining, the show should fill up early, I’d highly recommend getting there early. If the super dope lineup wasn’t enough, you can RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com for $3 entry (that’s right, only $3!!! It’s first come, first serve though, so get to Lost Lake early) and also get access to some top quality music, videos and lots more. Otherwise, the show’s still quite a deal at the $15 door price, just make sure you show up early, because being ready to pay a $15 cover does you no good at a show that’s packed and at capacity before you get there. Last but not least, shouts to Meeg Conroy (IG: @Miss.Meeg) on the INCREDIBLE hand-drawn artwork for the show! 18+/8pm/3602 E Colfax Ave.

THURSDAY, 3/5 -> Last year, I had the honor of curating three Red Bull Sound Select shows in Denver, bringing out the legendary Bun B for a long overdue Denver debut, prodigious rapper Vic Mensa & Leather Chords for their first CO gigs and musical genius Exile and his Dirty Science crew, as well as featuring some of my all-time favorite Colorado artists & more. Now it’s 2015 and I’m super excited my first RBSS show of the new year; Tokimonsta, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, CRL CRRLL, Fast4ward & host Lazy Eyez at Larimer Lounge!!! While I’m a hip hop dude first and foremost, anyone who’s seen me DJ knows that my taste in music goes a lot deeper and this show is a great example, filled with incredible artists that have hip hop roots/elements/etc in their music, but make experimental music that doesn’t really fit into a box, in the best way possible.
If you’re not familiar, Tokimonsta‘s an INSANE producer/DJ from Los Angeles who debuted on Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label after blowing cats away at RBMA years prior. Her “2 On” remix was probably the single best remix I heard in 2014 and her latest EP, Desiderium, stays in heavy rotation. The first single from Desiderium is called “Realla” & features the show’s other out of town guest, the unbelievably talented Anderson .Paak.
Formerly known as Breezy Lovejoy, Anderson .Paak put out both mine & Lazy Eyez’s favorite album of 2014, his stunning debut Venice. Soulfully drawing from a variety musical styles, Anderson’s music includes elements of R&B, rock, funk, house & more, but comes together for a sound that only he seems to be able to pull off. He’ll be rocking with his band The Free Nationals and based off of everything I’ve heard and the music, their live show is one of the best in music right now. Anderson also just dropped the first single from his upcoming collaboration No Worries project with Knxwledge on Stones Throw, check it below.
Multi-talented, experimental singer/songwriter/producer CRL CRRLL‘s sound is also hard to box in, covering everything from soulful dance tracks, emotive downtempo joints to sophisticated pop anthems with ease. Fast4ward rounds out the bill with his own, one-of-a-kind skills, combining everything from turntables and beatboxing to piccolos and live guitars to create one of the most entertaining live shows I’ve ever seen. Him and CRL CRRLL will be performing their own music, but they’ve also been collaborating in the studio and have a few surprises in store for us, so make sure to come out early to see what they have in store.
Things get started at 8pm sharp and with a super dope lineup, pretty small venue and Tokimonsta headlining, the show should fill up early, so I’d highly recommend getting there early. As if the stacked bill wasn’t enough, you can RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com for $3 entry (that’s right, only $3!!! Less than $1 per musical genius on-stage! It’s first come, first serve though, so get there early) and also get access to some great music, videos and more online. Otherwise, it’s still quite a deal at the $15 walk up price, just make sure you show up early, because being ready to pay a $15 cover does you no good at a sold out show. 18+/8pm/2712 Larimer Street.

SATURDAY, 8/30 from 5-10pm -> Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to throw my first two Red Bull Sound Select Denver shows and help make the official Denver debuts from the legendary Bun B & rap prodigies Vic Mensa and Leather Corduroys a reality. This time around, it’s an honor and a pleasure to bring out LA’s infamous Dirty Science crew, with MPC mastermind Exile anchoring a dope lineup including his group with Johaz, Dag Savage, plus the two newest DS crew members, Choosey & Denmark Vessey! Exile has a fantastic history of putting on ridiculously talented artists like Aloe Blacc, Miguel, Blu & Fashawn, don’t miss a chance to catch the best of the present and future Dirty Science crew as they hit Denver!!!
As if that wasn’t enough, we’re also bringing out longtime Los Angeles favorite Thurz & future soul singer/producer Tiffany Gouché to join Denver’s own Oren L (of the Foodchain) and live production genius Fast For4ward as we debut The Meadowlark’s extra fresh, newly upgraded patio stage. DJ Lazy Eyez will be joining me on DJing and hosting duties and with the show being free with an RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com, there’s not a whole lot more we can do to make things any better (although we do have a few more surprises in store for the show, just wait!).
Since it’s a patio show, things get started at 5pm sharp and with a super packed lineup and small venue, we highly recommend RSVPing and getting to the show early. Like I already mentioned, you can RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com for FREE entry (that’s right, get in FREE!!! It’s first come, first serve though, so come early) and also get access to some great music, videos and more online. Otherwise, it’s still quite a deal of show at $5 (just make sure you show up early, because being ready to pay a $5 cover does you no good at a sold out show). Last but definitely not least, HUGE shouts to Delton Demarest for the awesome flyer art! 21+/5-10pm/2701 Larimer St.

FRIDAY, 7/25 from 6:30PM -> I’m looking forward to rocking on the Red Bull Sound Select Stage at this year’s Denver Post Underground Music Showcase. The UMS is one of Colorado’s main music festivals, taking over South Broadway every July for years and I’m excited to be a part of the growing hip hop presence at the event. The festival is four days long with a ton of acts from all different genres, here’s the schedule/lineup for the stage I’m playing on this Friday evening:
6PM — Wild High
6:40PM – DJ Low Key
7PM — Astronautalis
7:40PM – DJ Low Key
8PM — Tanlines
8:40PM – DJ Low Key
9PM – People Under the Stairs
Red Bull Sound Select is making discounted tickets available (details here) and the stage (know as the Main/Mini Stage at SSFCU throughout the entire festival) is outside at 21 S. Broadway.
Last but definitely not least, catch me spinning at The Solution w/DJ Low Key & Lazy Eyez at The Meadowlark afterwards, in classic Friday tradition!!!

SATURDAY, 6/28 -> Back in April, it was an honor to bring Bun B out for his unfathomably long overdue Denver debut in my first Red Bull Sound Select Show show. Time to curate my second RBSS show and I’m super excited for some Denver debuts of a younger sort; Save Money favorites and Chicago’s own Vic Mensa and Leather Corduroys (aka Joey Purp & Kami De Chukwu) at Larimer Lounge!!! They’ll be joined by two of my favorite Denver acts to date, extra live rap monsters BLKHRTS and multi-talented, experimental producer/singer CRL CRRLL, as well as host extraordinaire Lazy Eyez, for what should be one of the craziest shows of the year!
Fresh off of appearing next to fellow Save Money crew member Chance The Rapper on the recent XXL Freshmen cover and touring the globe with Disclosure, Vic Mensa’s continued to make a name for himself as one of the most interesting new voice in music. At just 20 years old, Vic’s diverse variety of styles and unique approach to songwriting made last year’s INNANETAPE one of my favorite projects of 2013 (download it for free HERE) and his latest single, “Down On My Luck”, picks up right where it left off, mixing top notch rap skills, inventive production and a catchy hook with all the makings of a Summer anthem.
Whether you’re familiar with them or not, Leather Corduroys (aka Leather Cords) are the next part of the Save Money army primed to follow Chance & Vic’s success. Members Joey Purp & Kami De Chukwu are both formidable solo MCs, with Fake Shore Drive’s Best Of Joey Purp and Kami’s Light both getting a ton of play in my system and rave reviews across the country. With that said, the two recently partnered to create the group Leather Cords and dropped Porno Music Volume II:TSFR to critical acclaim, with more heat to follow.
Ghetto goth, industrial hip hop, rock something or other, etc…Call it what you want, but once you hear them, you’ll definitely remember BLKHRTS. While the band has been splitting time between here and LA since their recent signing with ORGMusic/Federal Prism for their official label debut, you better believe that they stay repping Denver to the fullest. Rappers Yonnas Abraham, King F.O.E. & Karma and their ridiculous band smash performances with unparallelled energy and trademark ferocity, earning their spot as certified local legends with bigger things to come.
CRL CRRLL’s sound is just as unique, but tougher to pin down. Regardless, the producer/singer has been on a roll the last few years, making fantastic music that has a hard time fitting into a box, whether it’s soulful dance tracks, emotive downtempo joints or sophisticated pop anthems. Regardless of what you call his music, as he makes his presence in the city and beyond more known, it’s hard to deny CRL CRRLL’s musical talent and ear for quality.
Things get started at 9pm sharp and with a crazy thick lineup, small venue and Vic Mensa exploding on the national scene, the show should should be packed out early, so I’d highly recommend getting there early. As if the stacked bill wasn’t enough, you can RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com for FREE entry (that’s right, get in FREE!!! It’s first come, first serve though, so come early) and also get access to some great music, videos and more online. Otherwise, it’s still quite a deal of show at $5 (just make sure you show up early, because being ready to pay a $5 cover does you no good at a sold out show). Last but definitely not least, big up Joseph Martinez (fresh off of doing the artwork for Blu’s recent Good To Be Home album) for the ridiculous flyer art! 18+/9pm/2712 Larimer Street.

P.S. Stay tuned for more great monthly Red Bull Sound Select shows and new music in Denver, curated by myself, Holy Underground, Souls In Action & The UMS, all year long!!!
In one of the most exciting developments of an already amazing 2014, I’ll be curating a series of Red Bull Sound Select shows here in Denver! What does that mean, exactly? It means that every few months this year, I’ll be throwing shows with top national talent and the best of Denver’s local scene, all around the city! My first RBSS show is features the legendary Bun B, Denver favorite FL and CO all-stars The Reminders, with Lazy Eyez & myself hosting and rocking the turntables at The Marquis Theater!!!
It’s gonna be an honor to bring Houston’s honorary mayor and half of pioneering Texas duo UGK (RIP Pimp C), Bun B, out to Denver for a show. As far as I know, he hasn’t been out in Denver since the DNC in 2008 and hasn’t had a public show out here that I can think of; so make sure you save the date and don’t miss a rare chance to see a living legend live and in the flesh. Bun will be joined by The Foodchain’s FL, who’s probably my all-time favorite rapper to come out of Denver, based on his work on the three stellar Foodchain albums and his ridiculously good solo debut, Limbo. FL & Bun will be joined by The Reminders (aka Big Samir & Aja Black), a rare husband and wife rap duo who’s been traveling the country, garnering tons of attention and props from Hiero Day in the Bay to London, England to the Kennedy Center in Washington with their thoughtful brand of hip hop. Me & Lazy Eyez will be rounding out the bill, doubling up between the turntables and hosting duties for what should be a classic night hip hop in The Mile High City.
Things get started at 8pm and with the lineup we’ve got, things should be packed. To make things better, you can RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com for $5 entry to the show (that’s right, only $5!!! It’s still first come, first serve til we hit capacity) and access to to some great music, videos and more online. Otherwise, it’s still quite a deal of show at $15 (just make sure you show up early, because being ready to pay a heftier cover does you no good at a sold out show). Last but not least, huge shouts to artist Michael Coriano on the incredible flyer design! 18+/8pm/2009 Larimer St.
