Best Drunken Twitter Rant I’ve Ever Read (c) DJ Petey…Rappers, please read…

Some grade A ranting, spotted over at djpetey.com -> First off, a disclaimer:  I cant take credit for writing this.   This was a series of twitter posts from @DJBriG.  I just feel the need to re-post it here out of fear that it might get lost in shuffle of late night, drunken, twitter ramblings.  Here is what the man had to say…..

“U rap idiots are too stupid to realize that country music took ur spot at top 40 radio. All u do is win at urban radio and ur careers are over in a year. Why? Cus country music gives people an emotional attachment that hip hop lost with ur played out drug raps. We’ve heard the d-boy story 100 times before u idiots. And most ya’ll aint really d-boys and we know it. People wanna hear music that they can emotionally attach to. 90’s rap did that. It was poetry. O Let’s Do It is not poetry. Southern rap only works in the clubs. Its nothing that people wanna buy. 2pac made club hits, but he sold cus of records like dear mama. Biggie had Juicy. They were emotional. U could connect. U assholes hated on 808’s and Heartbreak, but it sold cus people could relate to his pain. There was emotional attachment to his lyrics. Excuse me while I go in. “Black music” has been the highlight of music in this country. There is no race in america that can claim that they’ve made better music. But in the last few years “black music” has lost its way. The innovation is gone. Seriously, does everything have to be 75 bpm and have drake on the hook and talk about ur money? We bought music cus we heard stories about the struggle. We tried to relate our blue collar lives to it. We understood. And these old dudes do have long careers. Fuckin jeru is overseas every week getting euro money. He aint had a hit in 15 years. U think dem franchize boys are going to germany in 2016. Get the fuck outta here. And its all about getting a groundswell of support. Raheem devaughn had a great album, but where was the chatter. And the saddest thing is that most the great rappers are fucken lazy. Jay electronica could be the next nas but dude is lazy as fuck. And to be more of a bum ass lazy dude than nas is, is something to be said. And can we please give up on red cafe on the east coast. Dude is like 48 and never broke. Its over my dude. Red cafe is jim jones with less marketing sense. All I’m asking for is innovation. As a white kid who grew up with black music, I’m sad to see what its become. Innovation + emotion = great music. And now I’m stuck with white hipster kids who grew up on real hip hop and tweaked it into their own shit to listen to. And those kids get booked all aroud the world while waka flocka is happy with 1500 kids in fucking mobile. Can @kurupt_gotti get some backing out west? Dude is top 10 rappers of all time and nobody notices. I just want something with some soul. Something @themegatrondon would sample, but new. And ny is so damn soft so I doubt its gonna come from here. I live in Bucktown, home of the origoo gun clappers. But we’re in a recession, isn’t this the time when great music is made. When people are fucked up? Where’s flint, michigan. I know u guys don’t drive benzs. I know ur broke. Where’s that real heart. where’s the truth that folks can relate to? Biggie never rapped about how much money he had til he was rich. He rapped about the struggle. We related. We were all fucked up in’ 94. And if its not about the struggle, at least make it happy. And good happy, not dirty sex happy that I don’t want my little cousins to hear. R&B has bee lost for 10 years. Everything is sex, sex, sex. U know why country music kicks the shit outta hip hop on the charts, cus its only about love and heartbreak. Raw emotion. That’s enough for tonight. Thank u to jameson irish whiskey and marlboro for sponsoring this rant.”
